Two plans for your winter away
The Elite plan provides up to $5 million in emergency medical coverage per insured person. The Value plan offers the same core benefits with a $2 million maximum. Both are underwritten by The Empire Life Insurance Company; TruStone Financial Inc. acts as distributor.
Single-trip and annual multi-trip options have a maximum contract period of 365 days. Confirm the permitted length of each trip. Monthly payment options are available.
Deductibles and assistance
The standard deductible is $50. Choosing a higher deductible may reduce your premium.
Trident Global Assistance is available 24/7: 1-833-370-8777 toll-free or 416-814-7615 collect from abroad. Follow the assistance and pre-authorization requirements in your policy. Submit claims within 90 days of the loss.
A 10-day review period permits cancellation after receiving the contract if travel has not begun and no claim has been submitted, subject to the policy terms.

Eligibility matters
Applicants must be at least 15 days old and under 95, physically in Canada when applying, and meet the plan’s residency or visitor criteria. Without a government health insurance plan, the emergency medical maximum is reduced to $200,000.
Disqualifying conditions include certain advanced or recently treated cancers; terminal prognosis or ALS; prescribed home oxygen or prednisone for a heart or lung condition; pulmonary fibrosis, cystic fibrosis or interstitial lung disease; stage IV or V kidney disease, dialysis or liver cirrhosis; congestive heart failure; and certain transplants.
You are also ineligible if a physician advises travel is medically unsafe, or if you live in long-term care and need help with daily activities. Disclosure does not override an ineligibility condition. Review the complete questionnaire and policy before buying. Pre-existing conditions have separate coverage and stability requirements.
